Elaboration:
Today I had my mock interview with the school principal. Even though I was nervous, the interview went very well. There weren't any questions I felt uncomfortable answering. I felt prepared to answer any of the questions. He told me that I did a great job and have great interviewing skills. All of the improvements he addressed seemed to be easy fixes. I discussed my job for next year with him, as well as the intercultural studies part of my major. After hearing about this, he asked if I would be willing to do a presentation for the teachers that will be working with their international school next year about multicultural education.

Analysis:
This was a great opportunity to grow professionally in many ways. Having this interview with a principal really helped build my confidence as a teacher. I also felt very confident about the things that I have learned and my ability to actually use them. Also, I was extremely surprised that he asked me to do this presentation. I told him that I would let him know if that was something I could do. I would love to help the teachers see ways that they could be sensitive to students of different cultures and especially ways which they could use literature to help students see beyond themselves. This is an exciting opportunity and I hope I have the chance to take it.

  1. Go, Girl! I am so impressed with your professional growth this semester. You did an excellent job at oral defense the other night, your principal was impressed with your interviewing skills, you have a job, and now you will be presenting to colleagues. There is not stopping you. :)

If you do get the opportunity to share with the faculty, just take pictures, prepare a brief PowerPoint, and talk about your experiences. They will benefit so much.

    Keep enjoying these last days.
