Elaboration:
The school requires that students be tested using Fountas and Pinnell once a semester. My teacher has not yet been able to start the testing, so she asked me if I could do it. I was able to apply some of my background knowledge about running records and the IRI and administer the tests to several students today. It was fun to do something different that enabled me to stay busy and not have to take work home.
Analysis:
Throughout the semester I have seen many of the things I have learned in my classes here at Indiana Wesleyan put into action. While I had to refresh myself on some of the technicalities, I felt very comfortable in administering these tests. I really enjoy seeing that I am able to discuss and use specific strategies or materials with professional teachers. In fact, many of the teachers said that they had never done a running record before and they didn't know how to do it. The experiences that I have had and the knowledge I have gained is truly valuable. =)

You have recognized another way that God has placed you in just the right setting this semester. You have grown professionally while providing assistance to the teachers and students at Lafayette Park. I'm glad you had background in admininstering running records. The great thing about running records is that you need only a text/book and a piece of paper and pencil. No special script or test is needed.
ReplyDeleteI will pray that your last days are positive and memorable.
